Macros for graph separations
In a recent paper by Richard Guo and me, we proposed a systematic way to select confounders by eliciting expert opinion. We invented some new notation to distinguish some different types of graph connections/separations. Macros for the new notation can be found in the file below:
Example usage can be found in the document below:

UPDATE The files above have been updated and more background information can be found at https://arxiv.org/pdf/2407.15744.
UPDATE 29 October 2026: The package is now maintained in the public graph-separation-latex repository under the MIT License. The new B2 design gives all squiggly relations the same length, with clearer half-arrowheads and 180-degree rotational symmetry. At a 10 pt mathematical reference size, the squiggles are approximately 13.19 pt long with a 0.45 pt stroke, and scale in smaller mathematical styles. Existing command names are unchanged; the straight relations retain their previous design.
The downloads above contain version 3.0.0-rc.2 and an illustrated guide to installation, design and usage. The repository also contains a minimal example, comparison tests and the reproducible local LaTeX-to-SVG workflow used for lecture notes. This replaces the earlier separately maintained copies of the package.
