The Statistics Clinic

For Our Potential Clients

How to be our clients

Does your work involve...

  • having to make quantitative statements about your data, including "error bars", the right size of which doesn't seem obvious at all?
  • large amounts of data, full of difficult to express information?
  • very limited, valuable, expensive data that you would like to make use of as much as possible?
  • data generated by a complex process, not all of which is fully known, or some of which is of a stochastic nature?

If your answer to any of the above questions is "YES" and you are unsure how to proceed, then why not come to meet us in one of our clinic sessions? We operate a walk-in policy so no advance appointment is needed, but it is often helpful if you can bring your data with you. Our timetable can be found here.

Our service is absolutely free to members of the University of Cambridge. Feel free to send an email clinic@statslab.cam.ac.uk if you still have questions.

What we expect in return

We hope that sometimes our discussions might evolve into genuine scientific collaboration, but in many cases a small acknowledgement in your paper of our assistance (if there is any) will be fine.

For Our Potential Helpers

We seek to expand our team as well. If you have research experience in quantitative related subject and wish to join our team, please do not hesitate to email Dr Richard Samworth or Yining Chen. Your efforts will be much appreciated and we look forward to meeting you soon!
