Here's a brief summary of the steps required. If you need more
details, see my web
page on writing web pages.
- Go to your home directory and create a public_html
subdirectory where your personal web pages will go.
- In your public_html directory, create an HTML file
called index.html, which will be your personal home page. If
you want to have more than one page, you can create some more HTML
files and link to them. You can also link to any other type of file
(e.g., Postscript files of your papers) in your
public_html directory.
- Try to view your pages in a web browser (the URL of your
personal home page is
http://www.statslab.cam.ac.uk/~username, replacing
``username'' with your username). If you get ``403 Forbidden'' error
messages, check your file permissions. Your home directory and your
public_html directory need to be world executable, and your
web pages need to be world readable.
- Once you're satisfied with your web pages, email Julia
(lab @ statslab.cam.ac.uk) to
have a link added from the list of Statistical Laboratory members.
