What software is available on which machines? Can you install program X?

A modern version of R, Mathematica 7.0 and Maple 13 are available on the Linux machines, along with the Nag C Library Mark 9 and Scilab (a free mathematical package which is similar to Matlab). Matlab itself is installed upon request.

If you work with PDF files, you can view them with acroread, FoxitReader or gv, or convert a Postscript file to PDF with ps2pdf on the Linux machines.

All of the Windows machines have Microsoft Office installed. OpenOffice (a free ``clone'' of Microsoft Office) is available on the Linux machines for dealing with Word documents under Linux.

I am happy to install any freely-available software which you need for your work. To help me with this, please let me know where on the Internet it can be found.
