Dealing with multiple email accounts

You may have more than one email account. For example, if you are a visitor you may have an account at your home university, and many people have free web-based email accounts. You can keep your accounts separate--for example, maybe you want one for work-related stuff and one for personal stuff. Or you can forward email from one account to another so you only have to keep track of one account. It's up to you, as long as you make sure that none of your email gets ignored. If you're a student, I'd suggest reading your Statslab email on Statslab machines rather than forwarding it elsewhere, in case your supervisor sends you files.

To forward email from your Statslab account to another account, create a file called .forward in your home directory, containing your preferred email address. This is a general rule for forwarding email from a Unix account. It should be possible to forward email from other accounts as well; please consult the administrator of the relevant account.

All members of the University can have an address of the form crsid@cam.ac.uk which can be forwarded to any valid address. It is a good idea to ensure that your @cam email is sent to an address which you check regularly.

Configure your @cam email (Raven password required)
